The first Commonwealth Championships were held in London, September 12-20 1981. Canada won over Nigeria, with England coming in 3rd in a field of 11. The Commonwealth Championships were revived in 2007 with the 2nd Championships being held in India. The Commonwealth Volleyball Confederation (CVC) have plans to reinstate the competition as an annual even, inlcuding a womens competition, with the future direction to be included in the Commonwealth Games.

Sorry but the facts are not correct, England did not finish 3rd, India did. England finished 5th.

Again that is incorrect, I played for the Bahamas and we loss the Bronze Medal match to India, we beat England in a five set match to advance to the bronze medal match. I still have the medal that says third runner up. Australia finished 6th but were much better than that position they just happened to be in a pool with tougher teams and did not advance. England thought we were a push over so they put themselves in the pool with us and we beat them twice.
Nigeria lost to Canada in the Gold medal match.
Bahamas lost to India in the Bronze Medal match, England beat Australia in the match for 5th and 6th.
